Tata Motors could bring around six new cars and SUVs to the Indian market by the end of 2027, as the company works to expand annual sales from about 6.4 lakh units to 12 lakh units between FY2026 and FY2031.

The wider plan includes six new nameplates and more than 20 facelifts and updated models by FY2031. Among the upcoming products are updates to the Tigor range, the Safari.ev, an AWD version of the Sierra, a next-generation Nexon and the first Avinya SUV.

Tigor and Tigor.ev facelift

Tata Motors may give the Tigor and Tigor.ev a substantial facelift by September 2026. The two models could receive styling changes influenced by the latest Tiago and Tiago.ev updates.

Expected exterior revisions include rectangular headlamps, a redesigned grille and a cleaner-looking bumper. New alloy wheels, revised tail-lamps and additional colour choices may also be introduced.

Inside, the updated cars could feature a new dashboard, a semi-digital instrument cluster and a top-mounted 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The centre console may gain open storage for two smartphones, while a new steering wheel is also expected. Major mechanical changes are not anticipated.

Three-row Tata Safari.ev

Tata Motors could launch the Safari.ev in the fourth quarter of 2026. It is expected to be the company’s first three-row electric SUV and may use the battery and motor arrangement associated with the Harrier.ev.

The electric Safari could be offered in Standard Range RWD, Extended Range RWD and Extended Range AWD configurations. Its electric powertrain may be accompanied by a multi-link rear suspension and frequency-dependent damping shock absorbers.

These changes are expected to improve ride quality and comfort compared with the ICE-powered Safari. Depending on the variant, the electric SUV could offer a range of about 600km.

Sierra AWD could arrive in 2027

An AWD version of the ICE-powered Tata Sierra may be introduced at the beginning of 2027. The company could restrict the system to one or two top variants.

The Sierra AWD may combine a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol or diesel engine with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It could become Tata Motors’ most affordable all-wheel-drive car, although the AWD hardware and additional features are expected to make it considerably more expensive than standard Sierra versions.

Next-generation Nexon

The next-generation Tata Nexon could arrive in the third quarter of 2027 under the Garud codename. Earlier expectations pointed to a heavily updated version of the current X1 platform, but the company may instead use a shorter version of the Sierra’s platform.

That platform is also being used to develop a compact SUV known by the Scarlet codename. For the new Nexon, Tata Motors is expected to focus on improvements in safety, comfort, connectivity and driver-assistance technology.

Avinya’s first SUV

The final quarter of 2027 could see Tata Motors introduce the first model from its EV-only Avinya brand. The vehicle may be a D-segment SUV based on the new Chery-JLR platform used by the current Freelander 8.

Its design could draw inspiration from the Avinya X Concept shown at the 2026 Auto Expo. The model would position Tata Motors higher in the electric-vehicle market than its existing EV portfolio and represent a move towards premium electric mobility.
