September 2026 is set to offer a broad theatrical lineup, with eight Bollywood and South Indian films scheduled for release. The films cover crime, suspense, psychological thriller, supernatural horror and romance, bringing several highly anticipated titles to cinemas during the month.
September releases
Mirzapur The Movie will open the month on 4 September. The film brings back Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi and Divyenndu in their respective roles from the Mirzapur series. Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar are also joining the cast. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on 4 September.
Also arriving on 4 September is Immortal, a Tamil supernatural horror thriller led by G. V. Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar. Directed by Mariappan Chinna, the film is set for a worldwide theatrical release.
Sardar 2, starring Karthi, is scheduled to reach cinemas worldwide on 10 September. P. S. Mithran is directing the film, which also features S. J. Suryah, Malavika Mohanan and Ashika Rangnath in important roles.
Two films are listed for release on 18 September. Love Lottery, starring Akshay Oberoi and Haley Daryaniwala, is a Hindi murder-mystery suspense thriller directed by Arvind Pandey. Meghna Gulzar’s Hindi crime thriller Daayra, featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is also scheduled for that date.
The Paradise, starring Nani, will release worldwide on 24 September. The film is directed by Srikanth Odela and has drawn anticipation from fans ahead of its release.
On 25 September, One – Force of the Forest is scheduled to open in cinemas in India and around the world. The supernatural folklore-based thriller stars Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia. Its release date had previously been changed several times.
The lineup also includes Haivan, which marks the return of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together on screen after several years. Priyadarshan is directing the psychological thriller. Saif Ali Khan plays a blind character, while Akshay Kumar is set to appear as the antagonist. Boman Irani is also part of the film’s cast.
