Noida-based astrology and spiritual-tech company Astrotalk has entered India’s unicorn club after reaching a valuation of $1 billion, equivalent to ₹9,549 crore. The company achieved the milestone through an employee stock option plan buyback funded by its profits.
Under the buyback, more than 100 employees have the opportunity to sell their vested ESOPs for cash and realise part of the value created in the company. The development places attention not only on Astrotalk’s valuation but also on its reported profitability.
From astrology consultations to spiritual commerce
Astrotalk was founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain. Its initial focus was to connect astrologers and users through a single platform. The business later expanded beyond astrology consultations into spirituality, wellness and spiritual commerce.
The company’s platform offers consultations with astrologers, live sessions, horoscope services and kundli-related interactions. According to its website, more than 13,000 astrologers are available on the platform, which handles over 1 lakh minutes of consultation each day.
Astrotalk has also added categories linked to spiritual and wellness practices. These include products related to spiritual jewellery, rudraksha, pyrite, vastu, dhan yog, planets and stars, and mulank. Its website also features gifting collections and crystal-infused perfumes built around themes such as wealth, confidence and love.
The company says it is focusing on areas including stress and mental wellness through spiritual approaches, alongside its astrology offerings.
Revenue and profit growth
Astrotalk reported revenue of ₹1,176 crore and profit before tax of ₹285 crore in financial year 2024-25. The company also says its current revenue run rate is more than ₹2,500 crore.
Astrotalk has linked the ESOP buyback to its profits, highlighting a business model that has remained focused on profitability while the company has expanded. The buyback gives eligible employees a way to convert vested stock options into cash.
Backing from investors
Astrotalk has received support from investors including Left Lane Capital and Elev8 Venture Partners. Left Lane Capital invested $20 million in the company in February 2024 and a further $14 million in June of the same year.
The company’s plans now include expanding its global footprint, investing in technology and talent, and strengthening its position in the spiritual-tech sector. Its business has grown from an astrology consultation platform into a wider offering spanning spiritual services, wellness and related products.
