Mumbai Crime Branch has made the 11th arrest in the firing case linked to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff. Investigators arrested Pranjal Thakral, a resident of Harsana village in Sonipat, from Indore.
Police allege that Thakral played an important role in getting weapons and live cartridges to the shooters. According to the crime branch, information linked to him led investigators to Surat, where they recovered three illegal weapons and 10 live cartridges.
The arrest has drawn objections from Thakral's family. Relatives say he is innocent and was wrongly detained. They maintain that he has no connection with the firing case.
Family disputes police claim
The family says Thakral was in Indore because his brother was admitted to a hospital there and receiving treatment. Relatives say he was staying nearby to care for his brother when the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested him.
The defence repeated this position during court proceedings. Lawyers argued that Thakral was in Indore for his brother's treatment and questioned how he could have been involved in the alleged firing conspiracy while he was there. The family continues to deny any connection between him and the incident.
Eight of the 11 people arrested in the case are from Sonipat district, according to the report. Thakral was studying engineering before his arrest.
Police examine links to other accused
Investigators are also examining Thakral's reported connection with Kunal, who was arrested earlier. His name had emerged alongside Kunal's in a firing incident in Panipat, and the two were reportedly in contact.
The crime branch told the court that Thakral was directly in touch with Anil Pandit. Investigators allege that he helped provide weapons to the people who carried out the firing. The agency also said that contact took place through different applications and phones.
Police are seeking to establish how Thakral came into contact with Pandit and what role he allegedly played in moving weapons to the shooters. The recovery in Surat forms part of the evidence being examined as investigators assess those alleged links.
Court sends Thakral to custody
Thakral was produced before Kila Court after his arrest. The crime branch sought custodial interrogation to investigate his alleged role and the route through which weapons reached the shooters.
The agency told the court that Thakral faces an organised crime allegation under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The defence opposed police custody and relied on his presence in Indore for his brother's medical care.
After hearing both sides, the court sent Thakral to crime branch custody until 31 October. The investigation will examine the allegations made by the police, while his family continues to claim that he is not involved.
Conclusion
The case has reached 11 arrests, with police linking Thakral to alleged weapon supplies and a wider chain of contacts. The court has granted custody until 31 October, while the accused's family disputes the allegations and says he was in Indore caring for his hospitalised brother.
