Yash’s Toxic is setting a strong pace in advance bookings ahead of its worldwide release on August 26, 2026. The film has already moved ahead of Dhurandhar 2 in early ticket sales, establishing one of the strongest pre-release booking performances cited for an Indian film.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is presented as a pan-India period gangster action thriller. Advance sales began on Friday morning, August 21, around 6 am, with cinema chains opening their booking windows a few hours later. Major online ticketing platforms then recorded immediate demand for the film.
Advance sales cross key milestones
According to the latest live tracking figures cited in the report, Toxic has generated more than ₹18.75 crore through direct ticket sales. Including seats held or blocked by national cinema chains, the first-day advance-booking total has crossed ₹27 crore.
More than 4,56,486 tickets have been sold across 12,575 tracked shows. The report said theatres in major cities were seeing tickets move quickly, with evening pre-sales producing a particularly strong response across India.
The first 24 hours also produced a notable comparison with several major releases. Toxic sold about 2.5 lakh tickets during that period, ahead of the reported figures for Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan at 1.5 lakh, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 at 1.3 lakh and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal at 55 thousand.
The Hindi version alone sold 60 thousand tickets in its first 24 hours, exceeding the corresponding figure cited for Animal.
Karnataka leads the early response
Karnataka, Yash’s home market, has emerged as the strongest region in the advance-booking figures. Direct ticket sales there have officially crossed ₹10 crore. Across 1,744 shows, the film recorded 43% occupancy and ₹10.53 crore in sales. Including blocked seats, the total reached ₹14.09 crore.
Of those Karnataka shows, 723 were already fully booked or marked as nearly full, while another 323 were described as filling quickly. Bengaluru accounted for 952 shows, with 41% occupancy and ₹6.32 crore in direct sales. The figure rose to ₹8.83 crore after blocked seats were included.
Regional centres also showed high opening-day occupancy. Mysuru recorded 72% occupancy across 117 shows, while Shivamogga reached 87% and Raichur 82%.
Opening-day expectations
With more than 4.75 lakh tickets sold without counting blocked seats and advance collections continuing to rise across India, trade analysts cited in the report expect Toxic to challenge a global opening-day gross of ₹100–120+ crore.
The reported figures indicate particularly strong momentum in Karnataka and a wide response across the national advance-booking market. The film’s final opening-day performance will depend on ticket sales through the remaining period before its August 26 release.
