Urban Company has secured an order in its legal dispute with Kent RO Systems over advertisements and social media content concerning the filter life of its Native water purifiers.
The case was filed in the Delhi High Court on 11 August, 2026. Urban Company alleged that Kent’s campaign made false and misleading claims about its Native M0, M1, M2, M1 Pro and M2 Pro water purifiers.
According to Urban Company, the advertisements questioned the products’ two-year filter life and two-year service life. The company also said the campaign portrayed those features as a marketing tactic and suggested that using Native water purifiers could be unsafe and risky for customers.
Kent agrees to remove disputed content
The matter was heard by the Delhi High Court on 12 August. During the proceedings, Kent RO told the court that it would remove the advertisements covered by the dispute.
Kent also agreed not to run further advertisements or promotional content making claims about a water purifier having a two-year filter life or not requiring servicing for two years, where such material could harm Urban Company’s reputation.
Urban Company said Kent RO was required to remove the advertisements and social media content within 15 days of 12 August. The court passed its order on that date, while the order was published on the Delhi High Court website on 22 August.
The dispute centres on the marketing of Native water purifiers and the claims made about how long their filters last and how frequently the products require service. The case does not end all legal disputes between the companies.
Other cases remain pending
Urban Company said other proceedings involving the two companies are still before the courts. These include a patent infringement case filed by Kent RO, a counterclaim by Urban Company against Kent RO’s patent, and a suit brought by Urban Company against Kent RO for tortious interference.
Urban Company is a technology-based platform that connects customers with professionals for home and beauty-related services. Its services include cleaning, repairs, salons and spas.
Urban Company shares rise
Urban Company’s shares rose 8.19% on Friday before the company’s disclosure about the legal development. The shares closed at 157.41 rupees.
The stock had gained 40% over six months and was up about 20% so far this year. Over the previous one year, however, it had fallen by up to 6%. The company’s market capitalisation stood at 24,459 crore rupees.
Kent is not listed on the stock market. The company could bring an IPO soon, and it received regulatory approval for a public listing last June. The proposed listing includes an offer for sale by existing shareholders, including chairman and managing director Mahesh Gupta.
