Large groundwater sources found beneath Xinjiang’s Taklamakan Desert
Geologists have identified 2 substantial groundwater sources beneath the Taklamakan Desert in Xinjiang, including one at its southern edge and another in the desert interior. The findings could support sand-control projects and farming, while researchers are testing brackish water for irrigation and desertification control.
