Police in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, have registered a case against a woman accused of allegedly poisoning her mother-in-law with pesticide mixed into a soft drink.
The mother-in-law was admitted to hospital after consuming the drink, according to Station House Officer Kishor Kenwat. Police said the incident came to their notice around July 2017.
What police say
During the investigation, police found that the accused had recently married and was frequently speaking by phone with a person from her past, Kenwat said. Her mother-in-law allegedly objected and tried to stop those conversations.
Police allege that the woman then mixed a poisonous substance into a soft drink and gave it to her mother-in-law. A case has been registered under Section 118(1) of the BNS, and further investigation is underway.
