Trump praises Modi government’s action against opium production as India remains on US drug list
US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for its efforts to curb illegal opium cultivation and strengthen supply-chain reliability. India will nevertheless remain on the United States’ 2027 list of major drug-producing or transit countries, alongside 20 other nations.
