Belgrade survived 115 wars and 44 devastations to become Europe’s resilient city
Belgrade, Serbia’s capital, has endured more than 115 wars and been devastated 44 times because of its strategic position between eastern and western powers. Today, the city combines historic fortresses, museums and cultural neighbourhoods with modern offices, shopping malls, riverfront clubs and a population of around 17 lakh.
